Your account for anaesthetic services will be determined by a number of factors:
- The nature and complexity of the surgery
- Duration of the surgery
- Age of the patient
- Post operative care requirements
- Previous medical conditions
- Type of surgery (eg. Cosmetic or general)
- Whether the patient has private hospital health insurance
- Health fund arrangements (eg. Co-payments or out of pocket expenses)
To ensure you are fully aware of the costs involved with your anaesthesia please contact us on (08) 8236 5066 to obtain an estimate of fees. Please note that although every effort is made to provide accurate quotes, based on the above variables the final account post surgery may differ to the estimate provided.
If you have any concerns about the quoted estimated fee you should discuss them with your anaesthetist prior to your anaesthesia.
Out of pocket expenses (OOP) are amounts payable by the patient over and above any payments made by the health fund or Medicare. The OOP amount will vary depending on the anaesthetic fee and health fund rebate. NIB and St Luke's Medical and Hospital Benefits Association will only pay the scheduled fee for anaesthetic services which have incurred an OOP expense. This may result in the patient having a larger OOP to pay compared with other health funds.
Out of pocket expenses have risen because the Commonwealth Government has not indexed Medicare rebates adequately for the last 25 years.
If the patient is insured and no out of pocket fee is being charged, Stace Anaesthetists will submit the account directly to the health fund on the patient’s behalf. Once the account is paid the health fund will send a remittance notice to the patient advising what items and fee have been paid.
Patients who are uninsured are required to pay the full fee before their anaesthetic. An estimate of fees will be emailed or posted to the patient. Payment is required at least 7 working days prior to surgery.
If no estimate account is received, please contact us on (08) 8236 5066.
Payment can be made by BPAY, credit card, cash or money order. Failure to pay in full prior to surgery may result in the surgery being cancelled. To make a payment over the phone please contact us on (08) 8236 5044.
Patients undergoing cosmetic surgery or procedures not covered by Medicare are required to pay the full fee before their anaesthetic.
An estimate of fees will be emailed or posted to the patient. Payment is required at least 7 working days prior to surgery.
