Joint Replacement Surgery
Joint replacement surgery most commonly involves either the hip or knee joints, but other large joints including the shoulders may be surgically replaced. Your surgeon has determined that you require a joint replacement soon. In order to prepare you for your upcoming surgery the following information explains the anaesthetic options available to you.
In view of the nature and complexity of the surgery, your anaesthetist at Stace Anaesthetists will endeavour to review you in our rooms prior to surgery to discuss the various options.
The anaesthetic techniques available for your surgery include:
- General Anaesthesia
- Spinal Anaesthesia
- Epidural Anaesthesia
- Nerve Blockade
- A combination of the above anaesthesia
- Patient information pamphlet - Anaesthesia for Major Joint Replacement Surgery
